At New York’s Facial, Plastic, Reconstructive and Laser Surgery , our highly trained facial plastic surgeons are experts at eyebrow and forehead lifts. Facial aging causes the skin of our forehead and around our eyebrows to sag or droop. This lowers the natural position of the eyebrows and dramatically altersthe appearance of the face. A droopy brow has the undesired result of making a person appear tired or angry. If the eyebrow is too high, it can make a person look overly surprised or concerned.
Our experienced surgeons work meticulously to place the eyebrow at a natural position and are able to diminish lines on the forehead, crows feet wrinkles aroundthe eyes, and the frown lines inbetween the eyebrows using treatments like Botox and tissue fillers. The result opens up the eyes, enhancing the beauty of ones face, making an individual look younger, refreshed and vibrant.
Who is a Candidate for an Eyebrow Lift or Forehead Lift?
Eyebrow and forehead lift surgery is recommended for healthy men and women whose eyebrows and foreheads have begun to sag and fall as a result of aging. An eyebrow lift is often recommended to enhance the results of an eyelid lift, or blepharoplasty. Candidates who benefit from both procedures often complain of having heavy, tired looking eyes. These patients may not be fully corrected with a blepharoplasty alone. If there is blockage of vision as a result of the heavy eye brows and loose skin, the procedure may be covered by medical insurance.
What is the Recovery like from Eyebrow Lift or Forehead Lift Surgery?
Eyebrow or forehead lift surgery is performed with moderate sedation or general anesthesia, depending on a patient’s preference. Most eyebrow lifts are performed using a minimally invasive endoscopic technique, that uses small 2-3mm sized telescopes. This allows the surgeon to create small incisions that are hidden within the hairline instead of larger incisions that may be more noticeable. The muscle is gently lifted and reset to a more youthful position. This elevates the brows and can reduce wrinkles of the forehead and lines around the eyes. The endoscopic technique reduces recovery time and minimizes pain or bruising.
The procedure is accomplished in an outpatient setting. Most patients return to home after only a few hours. Recovery may last up to one week, at which time patients may return to work and non-strenuous activities. Mild discomfort, swelling and bruising are common the first few days after surgery. Most patients feel confident returning to their public and social lives in about 7-14 days. Our experienced surgeons reduce bruising and recovery time with the application of state-of-art techniques. Detailed postoperative and aftercare instructions will be provided to each patient.
